A new twist on an Old Rivalry:

Trion vs. Gordon Lee Alumni Game, May 6

May 6 will be a night for “old Bulldogs” to show they still have that legendary Bulldog Pride. Former Trion football players, cheerleaders, and band members can take the field for another chance to battle it out with the

Gordon Lee Trojans during the first ever Trion vs. Gordon Lee Alumni Game. The excitement is definitely in the air over the opportunity to play under the Friday night lights. Players are

coming back from the 80’s and 90’s in addition to those who have more recently suited up. Greg Baker, Class of 1983, plans to travel home to be a part of the action.

Three Trion coaches will participate as players including Garrett Brown-C/O ’95, Jarin Blevins – Class of ’99, and Cody Simpson-Class of 2013. Coach G. Brown will play and act as offensive coordinator. Principal Bryan Edge will return to his coaching roots as the defensive coordinator.

Resource Officer Dwayne Tinney, Class of ’92, will be coaching the offensive line and says their strength is in their size. “Our running game will be good, too.” Tinney is really excited about this rare opportunity: “It’s going to be a lot of fun. We had fun Sunday at practice. The Trion/Gordon Lee rival is the oldest rivalry in Georgia. Who wouldn’t want to see that?” Tinney added, “This is a chance for fathers and sons to play together. That’s pretty cool.” Rusty Brown and

son Cody Brown are one father and son who will be teammates for this special event.

There’s still time to sign up and be a part of this historic event. Practices are Sundays at 3:00. There were almost 20 players there for the first practice, and they would really like to have more. According to Coach Edge,

they need the “man power.” The game will be played in four 12-minute quarters, and for a $100 participation fee, Southeast Football Rivals will supply all equipment other than cleats. Coach Brown will supply the jerseys.

You can show that you are a true Bulldog by showing up in your royal blue at Gordon Lee’s stadium on Friday, May 6. According to Justin Brown, all alumni are encouraged to be a part of the game on the field, the

sidelines, or in the stands. Anyone interested in participating should contact Justin Brown.
