Last Saturday, the Bulldogs hosted the Area Wrestling Duals, with four other teams competing. At this tournament, the Bulldogs placed first, earning their third straight Area Championship Title.

The first match for the Varsity Dogs was against the the Mount Paran Eagles, ending in a 75-3 win. After this match, the Bulldogs went up against Mount Zion. Points from Alonzo Francisco, Versain Vasquez, Bowden Brock, Chris Pace, Bo Jones, Alex Stewart, Clay Baker, Daegen Vaughn, and a forfeit gave the dogs their 53-27 win. With this victory, the bulldogs advance to the State Finals in which they will compete against teams from all over the state.

Over Christmas Break, the Trion Wrestling team competed at three tournaments, the first in Gatlinburg, the next at Calhoun High School, and the last at Fort Payne.

At the tournament in Gatlinburg, the Bulldogs went 4-4, beating Morristown West, Union, Mill Creek, and Notre Dame. Notable wrestlers at this tournament were Ethan Madaris, Lincoln Maddux, Daegen Vaughn, and Brantley Willbanks.

At the tournament at Calhoun High School, the Bulldogs went 3-1, placing second overall. The first team the bulldogs competed against was Woodland High School. This match ended with an impressive 66-10 score. Pins from Vaughn, Dalton Sparks, Madaris, Peyton Stowe, Kyle Krueger, and Willbanks gave the bulldogs this impressive victory. The Varsity Dogs then won a close match against Grissom High School. The 39-36 win was a result of pins from Lincoln Maddux, Joshua Buster, Alex Stewart, Willbanks, and Vaughn and takedown and near fall points from Madaris. The bulldogs then swatted the Calhoun Yellow Jackets with a 42-33 win. After this win the Bulldogs advanced to the Final, in which they lost to Sonoraville High School.

To start the year off with a bang, the Bulldogs went 2-0 at the tournament in Fort Payne, Alabama, defeating Hazel Green and Fort Payne High School. Trion crushed both teams in a stunning fashion.

The Bulldogs will be competing in Macon, Georgia at the State Duals Thursday through Friday, and they invite everyone to come and watch the Trion Bulldogs compete for the state championship.       .
