Although the Trion Bulldogs have been out on their Winter Break, the basketball teams have stayed busy. Recently, they have competed against Dade County, Southeast Whitfield County, Darlington, Lafayette, and Mount Zion. The Lady Bulldogs and the Varsity Bulldogs are both currently 6-8.

Although the Varsity Girls fell short by only a few baskets to Dade (42-48), the Varsity Boys overpowered the Wolverines and ended with a 30 point lead! The final score of the game was 67-37, leaving the boys undefeated by Dade this season.

The Varsity Boys lost this past Friday’s home conference game against long time rivals, the Gordon Lee Trojans, 26-47. The Lady Bulldogs, on the other hand, finished with a region win. Shelby Carlock led the team with 12 points while Lauren Allison and Chloe Murdock both contributed 8 for a final score of 44-31.

When both teams traveled to Mt. Zion for an away conference game, the Lady Bulldogs triumphed over the Eagles with a win, 51-20. However, the boys fell short by only a few points, ending their game with a final score of 61-64.

On the 5th, our Trion teams hosted the Lafayette Ramblers. The boys lost with a final score of 54-68, but the Lady Bulldogs overcame their last defeat against the Ramblers and won with 48-40. Murdock scored 15 points for the girls during the game followed by Carlock with 10.

The Bulldogs made their way to Darlington to battle against the Tigers in an away conference game. Sadly, both teams suffered hard losses against Darlington. The girls fell short by 18 points with a final score of 31-49 while the boys lost by 25 points, 51-79.

Prior to the loss at Darlington, both varsity teams were victorious over Southeast Whitfield County. Senior Brier Ingle led the game, scoring 20 points; not far behind was Austin Mason with 12 points. The boys ended the game with a final score of 49-46. The Lady Bulldogs walked away with a 5 point lead, ending the game 41-36.

Before the break, both teams dominated over the Dade County Wolverines. Ingle easily got 25 points past the Wolverines. Jaden Hardy followed with 17 while Andy Allen rang up 10. The boys ended the game with a 23 point lead with a final score of 78-55. The girls left the court with a 10 point lead for a final score of 56-46.

Over the next week, the Bulldogs will once again play against the Bowdon Red Devils, Christian Heritage Lions, and Mt. Zion Eagles.
